--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So my truck is pulling 3 codes. One is PO462& the other is U1000. My cruise control has been acting funny on three occassions and just stop working and the light would blink rapidly and just not work. This has happen at speeds above 60+ mph and on long road trips. It happened again tonight and i pull my truck into autzone and yep its pulling codes like i thought.

U1000 is a bad grounding in the wiring harness which explains my cruise control issues.

PO462 is for my fuel level sensor circuit low input

and the biggest issue maybe is that my column shifter is getting stuck in reverse & in park. In reverse it'll get stuck and i try to get reverse and my truck just stalls& just moves. In park it just sticks and i have to jerk it for abit before it decides to work. I heard there was a bulletin for faulty shift linkage. So thats just adding to the lists of things to get checked out...

Just got back from the dealership and they couldnt find anything wrong with the column shifter. But the 2 codes for U1000 came up and they fixed the bad ground that was causing the cruise control to stop working randomly. So im happy thats all over with.

Check your trans fluid & see what it look's like. When my trans started acting up, the reverse completely went out. All other gear's worked fine, just no reverse. Weird! I t was replaced under warranty.

They couldnt duplicate it at that time. But they fixed my cruise control or they thought they did. It still acts up and sometimes wont even turn on. So when i go friday to get my oil change. I'll have them recheck it...

Without the truck in front of me it is hard to say. They need to look at the freeze frame data. The U1000 code is a can system communication failure. One of the ecm's has lost host. Since it happens over 60mph and on long trips I would look at the abs system. The relays in the ipdmer fail or have poor contact and is another item to look at.

FYI on most newer ( drive by wire ) cars when you have a CEL it will disable the Cruise Control ....
