How much is my truck worth? It's not for sale (yet). This thread is to gauge what the market is like. If you honestly think it's worth $2, then tell me $2. I promise you won't hurt my feelings. :waytogo:

I'm trying to decide if it would be worthwhile to sell. I found another truck, that I really like and the price is right. The main thing holding me back is the value of my truck.

Here's a summary:

2005 KC 2wd XE (no power windows or locks)
100k miles
Runs good, no problems in driving it.
Has some body damage. Rock chips and small dings on the hood, few scratches here and there, and damage to the rear bumper and quarter panel from my wife backing into my truck. Overall, it looks decent. From 20ft, you don't notice most of the defects.
Large stain on seat under console
Cracked exhaust manifold(s). Not audible when driving around. Only noticeable for the first minute or so when engine is cold.
Only mod is a 2 degree timing advance.

So there's the major points I can think of. It's no show truck, that's for sure. But, it would be an excellent truck to use for work, or a cheap base for a heavily modded truck. Title is clear and in hand. I'd be happy if I could get $6500 for it, but not sure what the market is like.

Here's some pics. Be brutally honest with me. :happy160:

With a good detailing, she still looks good.

Ouch!

Yeah, the resale sucks on the Titan. Perhaps I could double the value by filling up with gas and airing up the tires.

I traded my 06 in for a 2010 & the trade value was 12000.00. It was a SE crew cab texas titan with 68000 iles on it. You would be lucky to get about 9000.00 for yours.

yeah your best bet would be to sell on your own maybe put some se or le wheels on it add factory fogs ... little things like that would help.may not get more money but would help move faster

Damn... that's horrible depreciation! I can still manage 12K out of mine locally, as is!.. and with some mods.. well $$$.. that means all this time I could've gotten myself a fully loaded Titan LOL

I'm always shopping around for vehicles, keeping an eye on what's on the market as far as from private sellers, not a fan of getting myself mixed up for years at a dealer.. but this is my opinion from what I know.. leaning towards Arizona.. you could start out that truck as is for 15K and any offers will be 2-4K less... now if you add the fog lights, mud guards, buy used better thread tires (say.. don't go over $200 for this), cover the hood rock chips with a plastic hood guard, seat covers that fit and look good.. then your offers will fall about 1-2.5K .... little investment that will give it more value. IF I were the one looking.. Now, in Cali.. especially So. Cal.. you'll be lucky to get 10K for it. Lol.... ONLY because from those pics.. it' looks bone stock down to the tires.

yeah 10k rebates kill the resale for those who didn't get a 10k rebate.

UHHHH yeah. You would honestly be lucky if you got over $5500 for it. I would do some major detailing before you would put it up for sale or checked on trading it in if that was an option. Generally they show you alot more than your actually getting on trade in deals. When i mean show you i mean the paperwork is fudged in a way that you think your getting a deal and then they fuck you without lube in the end.

This is pretty much my feeling too, but selling privately. I honestly think a dealer will give me less than $5k for it.

If I decide to sell, I'll get a thorough detailing and list it for $6500 locally and see what happens.

I'm just thankful I bought it used at a good price to begin with. Between the recession, gas prices and the poor resell value, there is no way I could ever buy a brand new Titan since I tend to change trucks every 5 years.

I just sold a '05 Civic in that same price range... What's wrong with the T???? If you were closer I'd take it!!

There's nothing really wrong with it. It needs a good detailing and maybe a set of headers. Otherwise, it's perfect.

The major strike against my truck is that it's a 2wd XE model, and not many people want a vehicle with manual windows and locks. It never bothered me though.

Also, the body damage lowers the price a bit more.

What really kills me is that you can search ebay for trucks in the $6k range, and most of them are 15+ year old trucks with less power, capability, reliability and interior room than my Titan. Just weird how a higher value is placed on inferior products. :Pshyco: I blame it on domestic fanboys who would rather push their broken domestic than drive an "import truck". http://domesticlugnuts.com/phpBB3/images/smilies/handjob.gif

Clicky Here for similarly priced trucks on ebay (http://motors.shop.ebay.com/Cars-Trucks-/6001/i.html?Body%2520Type=Pickup%2520Truck&Transmission=Automatic&Fuel%2520Type=Gasoline&LH_Price=5%2C500..6%2C500%40c&LH_BIN=1&_dmpt=US_Cars_Trucks&_fln=1&_mPrRngCbx=1&_trksid=p4506.c0.m283)

For example, check out this truck:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180461365749

It's 24 years old, with a smaller weaker engine that's carbed, a automatic with one less gear, broken AC and CC, torn seat and cracked dash, yet it's priced around what my Titan is worth?

Just looking through that ebay search makes me sick!!!

Why don't you just keep it?

Why don't you just keep it?

That's probably the smartest thing to do, especially since it's paid for.
I could mod the crap out of it and drive it until the wheels fall off. Depreciation is only a loss if I sell. :)

My dream truck would be a regular cab short bed with 400 or more hp, floor shifter and dark gray exterior. Similar to this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180460448693

I suppose the biggest issue I have with the Titan is it being a king cab and not a regular cab. This is also the only issue I can't easily address.

Why a regular cab? Performance, Looks, and Maneuverability. I know most folks like 4 door trucks, but to me, a 4 door truck is akin to a 4 door car; it can't be a sports car with 4 doors no matter how fast.

Hmm, wonder how much it would cost to chop my truck into a regular cab? :D

that hurts... looking at a tundra?

I was. But the whole Toyota recall thing over the acceleration issue has me shy on buying one. My other choice is a Ford Lightning.

My decision would be easier if I'd just hit the lotto. I'd keep the Titan and buy a Tundra and a L. Perhaps with a million or so dollars, I could be the first to get a reliable and functional turbo out there for the Titan. lol

Did you sell the truck yet?

No, still just toying with the idea. It's hard to go back in debt in this economy when my truck is paid for.

If the economy was good, then I'd be all over a newer truck - lol
