In celebration of my Titan's 100k milestone, I treated it to a full synthetic oil change today.

Before, I was running conventional oil and changing out every 3500 to 4000 miles.

What is the safe limit on full synthetic? 6k? More?

For the most part, my driving style is spirited. Nothing too crazy, but I do like to accelerate quicker than most other vehicles.

6K is fine on the synthetic. I got 5K on my mobil1 but I like to redline it often and I tow 5000lbs every other weekend, so 6K is fine for you truck. You could even go up to 7K if you want. What brand are u running if I may ask?

sooner is better but most synthetics are tested to 10k, not reccomended but acceptable. Mobil has the new oil they claim 15k. I have gone 10k on elf oil 5w40, but would not tell anyone to do it. Normal oil is 3750 and syn puts you at 7500 per normal dealership guidelines. this thread is going to go bad really quick. opinions are like... everybody has one.

What brand are u running if I may ask? Castrol Syntec. I was lazy and let the dealer change it. When I change it myself, I will be using Mobil 1.

Castrol is very good, them and M1 are neck and neck.

We use castrol syntec for our synthetic oil changes at work... great product. We also have Mobil1. But our normal syn oil changes are sytec. I am putting the Castrol GTX high mileage in my P.O.R.N mobile.

I'm running Mobil 1 full synthetic and have been since 5000 miles. I change it religiously every 5000. Is that too often?

I've been running synthetic since right after my Titan turned 5k on the ODO. I usually go between 5,000 and 5,500 miles between changes. I use Mobil 1 5w30. As for the rear diff? I only use Amsoil Severe Gear Oil 75w140 and I change is once a year. I always use the Nissan oil filter though. Right now, I am about due for an oil change and I am comtemplating using Nippon Oil Eneos Synthetic 5w30. It appear that ENEOS is some seriously good stuff.

Would the 0W-40 make the engine quieter?

Not shure if it's going to make in quieter, but it will make it run better and cold start up will be better because the oil will get to the parts faster then say a 5W would.

Seeing as I live in TX and the temperature has not gotten below 26* this year, should I stick with 5W-30 or try a different weight?

5W30 is fine, a 0w will help get to oil to the top of the motor faster on cold start up and keep the chains for making noise cause the tensioners are oil pessure controlled.

Hell no. I might if their was some at the parts store. I like PPP and M1, I hear Castrol is good too. So I have decided to get the 0w oil, but why should i get the 40 (0w40)...Is it better for me then the 0w30?

Lol on the amsoil! Try the 0W40 first they try the 0W30 after and see what one you like better. I would say the 0W40 cause it will be a 40w on the hot side and that will help when racing. Look what oil the have listed on the mobil 1 racing web site. The racing oil for nascar and F1 type stuff, but theres one of the normal racecar/truck too.

Castrol SYNTEC is very good too. If I didnt run M1 I would run syntec.

When Mobil 1 first came out it was recommended 1 year or 25000 miles.
I wonder why the toned it down? I ran it and had no motor problems, but most miles were highway miles.

I stick with the tried & true. I run M1, 10w30 dino oil every 3k miles. I'm down in AZ.

Sorry, I feel guilty running 7k - 10k on the same oil....

maybe because its not cheap.....

It was over $3 a quart in 1977, but it ran 25000 miles or one year
Normal oil was 50 cents for the cheap stuff
