Seeing as I live in TX and the temperature has not gotten below 26* this year, should I stick with 5W-30 or try a different weight?

5W30 is fine, a 0w will help get to oil to the top of the motor faster on cold start up and keep the chains for making noise cause the tensioners are oil pessure controlled.

Hell no. I might if their was some at the parts store. I like PPP and M1, I hear Castrol is good too. So I have decided to get the 0w oil, but why should i get the 40 (0w40)...Is it better for me then the 0w30?

Lol on the amsoil! Try the 0W40 first they try the 0W30 after and see what one you like better. I would say the 0W40 cause it will be a 40w on the hot side and that will help when racing. Look what oil the have listed on the mobil 1 racing web site. The racing oil for nascar and F1 type stuff, but theres one of the normal racecar/truck too.

Castrol SYNTEC is very good too. If I didnt run M1 I would run syntec.
